Louvre red doors would be nice...could also do something more modern like shoji screens that would grow with him and his decorating sense.

Are the closets in the rest of the house open like your son's room?

Shutters, and please put back his closet doors. Never remove doors. Will decrease your home value when ready to sell. Plus looks bad.

Shutters are great for bedrooms, easy to clean and great for room darkening. Yes - for sure replace the closet doors. Everytime I show a house without closet doors, I cringe and hold my breathe waiting for the inevitable comment from the potential buyer- " why do people remove these doors.....' You can immediately knock several thousand off your price as people who aren't handy ( the majority of buyers) have to hire a professional to install new doors.

When my boys were young they had two closets side by side like your picture. On one side we put shelves for their toys. On the other we hung a double set of rods with two shelves above for their clothes. It worked out well.
