This looks pretty straightforward to me.
I'd use adjustable accent recessed LED's to highlight the dresser/ art wall. Direct light from LED's can be harsh and the multiple emitters give a commercial appearance.
Uplights behind plants or furniture are perfect bedroom lighting but need to be in a recessed housing to prevent glare.
For the bed I would only table lamps or wall mounted swing arm lamps. NO downlights over the bed.
Switching doesn't have to be complicated. I'd dim each type of lights separately on a 3 way switch with dimmers next to the bed.

Thank you. When you say uplights in a recessed housing, what do you mean? I assume you mean recessed in the ceiling facing up behind molding.

I would also make some outlets ( for lights flanking bed and at seating area) half switched so one switch can turn them on and off

When I say uplights I'm talking about a can that sits on the floor with a weighted base. a deeper can hides the actual light source but creates beautiful shadows on the ceiling when placed behind a plant.
