I can't remember where this photo came from ( maybe Pinterest or DYI cozy home on Facebook) but I think it's really nice. With out the shelf it would be a very easy project. All you need to do is cut the wood like you are making a picture frame and put it around the edge. Don't forget that the edge of the mirror that is closest to the wood will reflect the back if the wood so you might want to paint the back of the wood black so it's less noticeable. You could use liquid nails or tile glue. I would put the base one on first, wait till it dries and then do the sides, and lastly the top one. You could use tape to keep them in place till they dry.

Keep in mind it would be more difficult if the mirror spans the entire length of the wall.
