Does the pony wall serve any real purpose?

No. I wish it wasn't there now, but the floor is not refinished underneath.

Well, it's always hard to get an idea about how much actual room is available from photos, but I'm going to throw this idea out here. How about if you moved one couch against the pony wall, and then put the other one on the adjoining wall, making a seating "L," basically. You could put a table in the corner between the two, and maybe still have room for the coffee table. Your tv unit is huge, so it probably would be a good idea to sell it, if your hubby would be agreeable. You could then hang the tv across from the couches, where you have that other large piece of furniture right now, and add some shelves to hold things that you might need or just to decorate with. You could then move the other furniture unit further down on either wall, and also have room for a small desk/mini office on the opposite wall. In one of the corners-maybe the one on the right, you could put that small table and get a couple of chairs-maybe some kind of "bistro" ones-to flank it, and then if you wanted to eat in front of the large glass doors you could just pull it out, and then push it back when you were through.
Again, I have no idea if this would be possible because of the scale of your room, but it would really clear out the center of your room. While seated in the seating area, folks could watch tv, or look out and enjoy the view while visiting, and maybe having a nice cup of coffee or tea, or a glass of beer or wine-whatever you and your friends and family's preference is. They could even still visit with you while you were in the kitchen, :)

Thanks Libradesign eye. Starting with a rug is a good idea. The accent wall is more towards khaki. I do like greens but looking for another color like a burnt red or deep coral to add contrast. I have a pillow with turquoise, but that is not the direction I want to go. I will look in to have the pony wall removed. Good idea.

is that white partition is a permanent wall it really should be painted the same color as your walls so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb hey long table like you to put in back of a couch against that wall in the dining room area would set a stage making it look like it was put there just for that reason right now it just looks like a half wall sitting there for nothing otherwise I would remove it completely and separate the rooms with furniture. in an urban home a handsome looking sectional would be beautiful in showing the difference of the rooms again using a table in the back of the couch set up with a few bucks a wooden small chest and a few muted colored flowers or a plant would actually be better it would look absolutely beautiful and the furniture but allow everyone to sit around and chat for a table try to find A large square chest type with a flat top or a large square enclosed fax with drawers to put things in it could also be hand built I have seen one around a sectional or pit grope if you will and the results are absolutely fantastic I hope this helps

in addition to my last suggestion I would also like to comment on your furniture in that large room they are not to scale and do not fit in the room properly the couch seems to be sitting in a lonely place like you didn't know where to put it that's like a sectional would be really great you could all see the TV and I would suggest a wall mounted TV so it can be turned at any angle and you could also see out side I still say that wall either needs to be painted the color of your walls and then use a table in front of that are you that is where your sectional would be then it would work but right now that wall is sticking out like a sore thumb that's the big thing that bothers me the most of all the room Furniture can always be added so when you have a large structure like that the way it's really hard to work around ityou put also get to large fluffy cultures put one against that wall that will be paid it in the color of your walls and and end table in the corner and then on the main wall what go the other couch you can use a large square table for your coffee table and that Sat other chairs around the area at for conversation I would suggest nice comfy swivels and maybe one nice chunky lazy boy in the same material and color as the couches get the chairs in a slightly different color to off set and beautifully accent your larger grouping of furniture. Oh how I wish I was there and go shopping with you at thrift shops and recyclable warehouses that's where you could find wood to make a beautiful beautiful table for your coffee table Gary rustic and you would be going green once you got that going it would make you want to do even more by getting very inexpensive things from those type of warehouses and turning them into something that if you bought in a store would be extremely expensive doing it this way what cut your cost of decorating almost in half

You furniture are fine & lovely. Yes fun to sit at window. A small round table with 2 chairs.

I would flip the furniture arrangement, putting the TV where the couch is, and the couch where the TV is. Then your loveseat would not be blocking the pathway to the window. If you like to watch TV when you eat, you could consider putting the dining table on the other side of the pony wall (if space allows) and putting your desk area in the current dining area.

curious what you ended up doing. were you able to remove the pony wall after all? if not, i'm thinking built-in banquet seating for your dining table along the pony wall. or add counter top to pony wall and turn it into a bar counter with stools facing the living room. both are casual ideas, but would at least make the pony wall look intentional.

jordash3 why not remove the entertainment unit and put open shelving. Like install the racks for the adjustable shelving and put the Tv and then display decorative items on the shelves and use baskets for any storage :) I am currently trying to reorganize my small space and I am realllllly loving open shelving, especially the adjustable kind...instead of boxed in shelves.
