It looks like the room is a bit small for all that's in it. The long dresser looks odd overlapping the window as it does. Could you get by with just the tall dresser and maybe a chair in the corner where the long dresser is?

I can't get rid of the furniture.

I know its a small bedroom, I have to deal with that.

Why too many patterns. so remove panels replace with solid.

I LOVE the bedspread (can you tell me where you got it??) and I like it with the drapes quite a bit. Yes, many would say it's too busy but I love mixing different patterns in the same color so it works for me.

I know you say furniture can't be moved but I'm having a hard time with the large bureau partially covering the window. I think I would put the bed centered under the window that's across from it and turn the drapes into a "headboard." I would then try to center the large bureau where the bed currently is and put the small tall bureau where the large bureau is currently located.

I would absolutely move the dressers out... even if I had to have builtins made to streamline your room.

I like the pattern on the panels but there are too many patterns going on. I'd suggest solid but texture bedding or use solid panels. One has to go.

Where is the door located in this room. I agree with travis, would change the curtains since it is the easiest.

Armygirl1987, could you post a picture of your dresser wall? Newhomeowner, armygirl has a dresser right in front of a window and has framed the dresser with the drapes. It worked very well but the drapes need to be wider than the dresser and the mirror would need to be removed. Just a thought.

Ann, I like the suggestion, but my the room is not big enough. Either my husband or I would have to crawl out of the bed on the other's side. I cant move the furniture, I wish I could.

Well, I certainly understand if you don't want to armygirl, but I thought it might be helpful to newhomeowner. You certainly have the attach image option open to you, so I'm guessing you would rather not. Sorry if I shouldn't have suggested it.

Overlapped posts with you newhomeowner. Glad you saw the example, but I see now it wouldn't work anyway.

Basically, it would mean moving the dresser to the left so it is centered under the window. If that won't leave room to get in and out of bed, it's not a practical idea. How about the arrangement mcbriec suggested - would it work?

If you can't move the dresser, I would at least just remove the mirror. You won't see another window panel curtains and will look less busy. A clear vase with branches on the dresser instead.

Good point Darzy - removing the mirror would help a lot. But, since there must be room to walk around that side of the bed, maybe there is room to slide the dresser over under the window, widen the drapery rod and frame the dresser with the drapes. If not, I do think just removing the mirror would be a big help.

I would remove the mirror from the dresser and center it in front of the window. Add a solid gray comforter across the foot of the bed instead of the striped one.

WELL, I think I'll wait to redo anything and look for smaller furniture and maybe get built-ins in my closet. Thats a project for another time. We've gutted this house and tomorrow we will have been here a year. I'm project-worn-out! Thanks everyone for suggestions. I know the space is small, but that's what you get if you want to live in-town in my city.

Are you located near an ikea, they have really cheap items for bedroom. I am sorry that you are frustrated, understand that things have to remain as is. Yet everyone is telling you to move this and move that. I think in that sense your best bet is to change the curtains and only have the rod to the end of the window not as far out as it is now. I really wish that you could post some more pics of the room.

Make this a great hunt....I went on Craigslist and searched furniture and headboard. What if you purchased something like this. This one was around $175.00. Then you could use the entire unit or use just the side towers. You could paint them or leave them as they are. You could even wire them and put lights for reading on the bedside of each tower.
Then place them on either side of the bed and center the bed under the window...
Just a thought. I f you take your time and have fun with the process, it could be really great and inexpensive..

Just another thought, you might have room for two chests of drawers placed on either side of the bed centered on the window.
