Large Kitchen Island with Seating or Kitchen Table?

I'm getting ready to remodel my kitchen and have a dilemma. We enjoy counter seating but if we make the size island we want we won't have room for a table. It's a small kitchen and we have a formal dining room a few steps away but not in clear sight of the kitchen area. Do we have to have a table for resale purposes? We would have counter seating for 5-7 people. Not looking to sell anytime soon but don't want to make an expensive mistake for the future. Thoughts?

My house has a large island with seating for 4. We also have a large dining room that is close to the kitchen. We love the shout and don't have any wasted space. If you entertain, having seating at your island is ideal. I think making room for a table is redundant if you have seating for up to 7 at the island AND a dining room. Sounds awesome too. Good luck

No, you do not need to have a separate dining table in the kitchen for resale.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I think islands are so versatile and people naturally hover around them during dinner parties and other get-togethers. I'm making mine big enough to seat 6 and getting rid of the table I never use! Hope yours turns out well!
