My light maple cabinets have yellowed. The faces and frames are real wood, but the end caps are vinyl wrap (ugly - but does not yellow, creating two toned cabs). I have received quotes to professionally paint ($3500); reface, replacing doors, drawers & endcaps ($15,000) or color shift with darker stain or paint, through nHance wood renewal ($7,000). I am leaning toward nHance because the price includes replacing crown with taller (5'' v 3'') and adding wood panels to ends & around island. Hubby wants to stain, because if we ever tire of it, we can do it again. Paint on the other hand can only be repainted, not returned to wood finish (I am told). I was thinking white cabs & stained island. Have attached pics of kitchen, and other areas of house to get a feel for our style. All appliances will be replaced with SS (micro already has been since these pics). Also will get new hardware. Counters, backsplash, floor are staying. Looking for opinions!!!! Paint a shade of white or stain darker?
