There are dozens of bulbs which you could plant for spring..... besides tulips :) Take a look at narcissus (daffodils)... they come in at least one hundred different variations. Alliums can be fun and they are also a fall planting bulb for spring bloom. Hyacinth and lilies bulbs can be planted in the fall for spring blooming, too. Crocus and snowdrops are the first ones to come up :) Take a look at Dutch Gardens and Van Bourgondien's online. They offer a wonderful selection of bulbs and may ship to Canada (haven't ad to check). Take a look at these Houzz pictures for springtime inspiration:

Crocus is my favorite...nothing more beautiful than a purple crocus poking up through the snow.

They should be able to help you find something right for your area (I love fritillaria but I don't know if they'll work where you are)
