Is the wood used chipboard?

I was if you can tell me what is the wood used for the stair steps and the frame work? Is it chipboard? I didn't know chipboard can be used for structural purposes.

    Jose, this type of wood is composed of flakes and strands of wood chips which are compressed with high pressure and adhesive. It is a structurally engineering wood framing member that is made in a similar manner as Oriented Strand Board (OSB). This product is known as Timberstrand LSL Beams and is available from TrusJoist or Weyerhueser.
