Here is an idea for a music stage.

Thank you Dytecture! A stage would be cool, but I can't see where it could fit in our space without impeding flow. Behind the drums is the furnace room..so still need access. On either side are the doorways to other rooms - TV room & sewing room.

If you got rid of all the old furniture and started new, I'm wondering if we can fit seating with fun fabric chairs, ottoman, small tables somewhere in the area of the brown loveseat and old table?

I would suggest repainting the walls. And contiue your blue, red, neutral arround the whole basement.---If these were the left overs you were trying to exit, then ignore this suggestion.

Another idea I have is to find some great music posters, have them laminate on board, put them up and use them as a colour source. Or decide your theme first and work backwards to finding posters.

Given that it's a basement I like some fun either bright accents colour or mid range colour for accent like your sofa.

How soffisticated / casual/ formal do want this area to be?

This TV room with the denim is mostly done...needs tweaks for sure, but it's that long skinny playroom that I'm stuck with in terms of figuring out what furniture can really fit nicely in there.
For example, can I use about half of that length of the room (near brown couch) to create a sitting area with bright/fun colored chairs, and small coffee table or ottoman? How can I use that weird alcove under the stairs... possibly build in a mini fridge/microwave setup for the TV room use? But if so, where should we set up the amp and guitar stands?
I am looking forward to dumping the old bookcase, table and couch in that room...so outside of the instruments, it's a clean slate. Also open to opening up one of those 4ft deep closets to use in some creative way...like maybe mini bar set up goes there, and the stairway alcove is used in a different way?
Mariaed, we like the idea of adding music posters, framed out nicely for the room. As for style, I'd like to head more for a higher end, 'grown up' look, and NOT look like a rumpus room!
