You could move the bookcase to the left, hand the tv where the bookcase is, and hang art/ mirror above the fire. Agree about the accessories

I agree with moving your bookshelf to the left and then add a canvas you love in the space. I would use a portrait hung canvas rather than a landscape.

Thanks! If the TV doesn't move, do you still recommend moving the bookshelf to the left and adding the portrait to the wall between the TV and bookshelf? It seems to me it would be too busy to add a portrait next to the tv...

If it was me I would move the TV. I personally do not like the look of the TV over a fireplace. Your wall has ample room for a nice stand/table for the TV.

I suggest making better use of that wall by moving the tv there. I would remove the shelving completely (already enough height in the room) and replace it with a low tv cabinet in an interesting colour and/or finish. A round mirror over the fireplace. Art would also be nice but it's very personal so I didn't post any. I don't suggest putting art on that wall......it would be too busy with the tv and fireplace.

If you keep your tv over the fireplace, why not do a console on that wall. You could put an ottoman underneath (like in the attached pic) and that would give you extra seating if needed. :)

Personally, i would suggest you move the TV if it is not too much work.
And have a family portrait on the fireplace. On this point, we could do things to help, you could come here for some ideas.
