Did you install subterranean irrigation? Would rotors work on grass like this?

I've read through all the Q&A here, but no comments regarding irrigation method. i have similar grass with pop-up mp rotors but worry the grass is so thick its difficult to penetrate to the soil. hence why i am wondering if you put in subterranean irrigation. thanks.

This red fescue area was irrigated with pop up heads. Good quality rotors or pop ups should work. Just make sure you select heads that extend 6" or more above grade. A subterranean system will definitely conserve water, but you would need to follow manufacturers recommendations for spacing based upon soil type.

I have this kind of grass. We have pop-up sprinklers with 6" heads, and we use a timer: 15 minutes on, 10 minutes off to let it soak in, then 15 minutes on again. That much sprinkling, once a week, is enough to keep the shady parts of our lawn lush and happy. The sunny parts are a little parched, but hey, we have a drought. Maybe more water next year.
