Since you are new homeowners... I'll suggest a few kind of simple things. (Something always needs fixing that isn't necessarily pretty!) The bricks are a pretty color, that used to be referred to as "dun". You see it in Europe a lot, and I noticed it also during travels in the upper Midwest. I think I would consider doing these things: 1) Choose a 2 tone darker version of the brick color to paint around the window area instead of gray. 2) Find some bigger, metal house numbers, maybe in that new finish called champagne gold, and put them on the wide trim board at the porch overhang. 3) Consider using a slate gray/blue for your front door. Blues and yellows are a classic color scheme, and a very muted version of that could look quite nice. 4) Remove the elderly front plantings, and dig out the roots. Spring might be a better time to do it than now. Going with the kind of slate blue idea, you can find evergreen plantings with a blue cast (think blue spruce....just not the tree!). 5) You can do a stain on the concrete in a darker grey with a bluish cast, just to tone it down. Lucky for you, the owner really took care of things! So clean and tidy! 6) If it's your style, you could possibly look for a rather modern rectangular, clean line water feature/art piece for that smallish bed to the right of the steps, with low plantings at the base.
