A few options I found

Here's another abstract to consider if you plan on adding strong punches of color. Or I could paint something in softer colors similar to the piece that janeinfo posted.

I would def go with a round table to play on the chandy and rug.

Margo, will you judge me if I do? :) I have to travel for work a lot recently and didn't want to miss the tree decorating with my little ones, so we did it last weekend! It was a blast and now we get to have it up for a whole month and a half! We all love it so why not?
Anyway, any other ideas for coffee table or art? The table suggested above is something I've considered. I like the plain wood look...but you don't think black or a mirrored look? Also, what shape?

I like Janeinfo's idea to have one piece of art between the windows. An abstract on canvas would be nice (warmer than photography) for that spot since it is between two windows and because it is an exterior wall. I suggest that the piece be both abstract and non directional (not a landscape) so the whole wall is cohesive, to counteract the break in the windows.

Brooke- I will judge you to be a *great mom*- why I think your tree is fantastic and just looking at the fun your kids and dog are having puts me in the Christmas mood myself;) I just may start too, thanks for sharing!!!

We have a chest for a coffee table . My husband likes chests. Although he says he's not looking.

As far as a coffee table , I would go round and something a bit unusual, coffee tables should be fun;

As far as art why not a set of birds like these. I see a birdcage in the room. You could stack 2 or do 4 depending on size;)

I actually have had a dark brown antique chest in that space until now. It was imported by my great grandfather who was the captain of a barquentine ship. It's got a lot of family history, but it's more asian influence and just doesn't look right. I'm sure I can use it elsewhere (I hope).
I do like the simple square table that Jane info recommended. So you don't think that a black table would be good to ground the room?
What do you think of these options?

I love that table with the casters. Where is it from? Our tastes are very similar. I have a nearly identical slip covered sofa and chair in my family room.

Holidays took us away for decorating. Back to the drawing board...if anyone has some ideas for a coffee table, I would love the input!

Thinking that a coffee table with black accent would compliment the black end tables. Also, the windows are charming and the chandelier is eclectic, so I think the room calls for a unique and casual coffee table. I selected art with muted colors that tie the colors of the fabrics in the room together.

Christi, I really like what you chose option #2 especially. I also HATE typing on an i-pad. Argh!
Where would I find #2? I just spotted something like that specific table and thought to myself I need to take another look at that. But of course I forgot where I saw it by the time I remembered to take another look!

Hi Brooke, I meant the ones that you posted after that in a comment directed to Chook : ) I think the others are a bit too rustic. MO. Unless you will be adding more rustic flavor to the room in other accessories. Not sure if I like the high contrast (glossier) sofa end tables ((traditional) with rustic coffee tables. Altho they can be mixed with the proper proportion in a room.

Your room choices and furniture design styles are a bit more formal. Rustic takes you in another direction.

Hi there! I would add an octagonal mirror on the sofa wall. Have you considered a bench/coffee table? Have a bench reupholstered, then buy a nice tray with a pop of color. Now it doubles as more seating when people visit, a place to 'kick up your feet and the best part - the tray now holds my beverage too!
I buy from this company and this mirror popped in my head after seeing your space. By the way, it's looking great!

Thanks! I've considered a bench but my dogs & kids would like wreak havoc and spill the tray off right away (along with anything on it). I like wood, but have had a hard time getting anyone to use coasters regularly.
LB - I agree, wood takes it too informal and I do really like the more formal room feel..but cozy enough that we actually sit in there a lot and even play sometimes. I liked the idea of a table on wheels so I can easily move it when we want to wrestle or play airplane without ruining the rug, but it's probably too rustic. Will be GrEaT in our family room soon maybe.
So I think it's down to the original Brooke table from Z Gallerie (octagonal?) glass & metal or one of the two above more formal tables.
