Need help with bossy bathroom tile!

I need help with a wall color for my master bathroom in the house we just bought. As you can see in the picture, the green tile is on the floor and the wall. It is not my favorite color tile, but I am trying to find the best wall color to complement it. I had the painter paint the walls white with white trim and it was too boring. Then I had him paint it BM Wickham Gray with white trim which made the walls look green. The color in the picture is SW Dorian Gray. While I love the color, I don't think it is right with the tile. Also....The painter just painted the cabinet, which was a medium color wood, to BM Chantilly Lace today (that is why there is no hardware on it) and we are changing the counter top to a white marble. Any suggestions for a wall color to complement this tile? Thank You!

Try Pratt & Lambert Winter's Gate...it's a very subtle gray. Coordinates really well with the marble and chantilly lace. It's cool enough to support the green too.

no idea for the walls, but i would say that you should look at white princess granite for the counter.

it's a white with swirls and there's often a sliiiiiiiiight green striation in it, which would coordinate with the tile well, but be neutral enough for when you change it.

The former homeowner had the bathroom painted a green color which matched the tile exactly. it looked to green to me...green walls, tile, and flooring. I thought the Wichkam Gray would look better, but it still made the room too green. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Honestly I think it looks quite good (for what's there). Maybe the grey is a bit too brown and should be cooler, flat grey or some blue in it (just vagely)? But, if you dislike the green tile so much, every other thing looks bad too, so either re-tile the whole thing or accept it, for now at least.

I like the gray walls... Maybe consider a darker granite to offset the colors. Verde Butterfly is a deep green with a light green reflection that would really connect with the tile. That would definitely take away the "boring" and give you great contrast. Then, you could go with a hardware on the darker side to pull in the dark granite.

I don't think white marble will work. I agree you need a darker counter surface since everything else is in the same tonal value.

I like your gray color and even your suggestion of white countertops. However, (and I know you just had it painted) but I think your cabinet should be a dark mocha color or maybe black. Just my opinion.

Since painting a wall is less work than an entire cabinet and all of the woodwork, but some contrast might look better, why not choose a similar grey wall paint but a few shades darker? Or if possible, keep what you have and find a durable tile coating to darken the floor. My brother once bought a piece of vinyl for his tiny bathroom and used caulk to close the edges off, worked like a charm.

thanks for all the suggestions! rinqreation......you suggested a similiar grey wall paint but a few shades darker....do you mean darker than the one It is painted now? (Dorian Grey) Also, what is a durable tile coating? What color would you suggest for the floor? Thanks for your feedback!

Yes, a darker grey (either on the wall or on the floor) (but a little less brown in it). Durable tile paint as in a 2component coating to paint tile floors. We have such stuff in the Netherlands, maybe your paint stores have it too?

Hi Ed! I don't believe it its corian. It looks and feels like some type of plastic material and has specks of light colors on it. It reminds me of something you would see in a hospital! ( that is why I want to change it!)

Hi policegirl, what materials for the new counter top are you considering ? ( I just did a big remodel, whole house, and used Corian for all the counter tops, and like it very much. :)

I wanted to do something that was as close to a solid white as possible. The tile is very green! Maybe marble or granite? My husband has a friend in the granite business and he would give us a great price. I will look into Corian. How does it compare price wise with granite/marble?
