real quartzite is an extremely hard and durable product. quartzite is formed when sandstone (soft stone usually composed of quartz) is compressed under heat and/or pressure, not quite fully becoming granite (hard stone with high quartz content). so it may have soft & hard, dense & porous mixed together. therefore, you may need to seal your counters (maintain by re-sealing) against water damage. make sure you view the actual slabs before you take them home - this is a natural product, and each piece will be different.

Have heard very different reviews of Cambria and Caesarstone...All positive.

Quartz counters are great! the different suppliers will have different colors but are all great counters for your kitchen - clean non porous perfect for kitchens

remember that quartzite is a different material from quartz. Cambria & Caesarstone and others are engineered from quartz with a binder (glue), so they are not porous.

Depends on if you want a natural surface for the counters or a manufactured one.
