Love the vent

So is there a fan or anything in there? Or does it work like a funnel and vent through the roof? What did you attach the old light with? Appears to be some kind of grill in there. Thanks!!

    There's an exhaust fan just above the ceiling. Attached the light fixture to the pipe with sheet metal screws.

    Great, and so the fan is in the ceiling pulling the exhaust, well, pretty far, it appears, though I like that. Also, is the light working, it is wired up through through the pipe?

    The fan is far away, but as long as the pipe is sealed, it's pulling the same amount of air as it would if it were right at the stove. We have a grease catcher filter at the stove as well. No light.
