Are accent walls still in style?

I would like to paint a single accent wall in the house. The LR/DR (which is the first thing you see upon entering the house ) has very high ceilings and needs drama .

    It really depends on the setting, but it seems you have the right idea. It is also different and unexpected to accent with a wallcovering in lieu of paint to really give a focal point to the room.

    I have a similar room with walls of windows in a treed/private setting. Are there any blinds or other window coverings in this home? Do you have ideas on how to hang drapes to the sides of these windows to night time coziness?

    These particular windows are Pella and have between the glass shades. Simple panels flanking the windows (not the upper shaped windows) would help soften the room.
