Okay so here my sad story music please, I have come to a real truth about myself , It's hurts to admit but Design Matters to me .its affects my everyday mood. Now my story, after completing a long wait kitchen renov. we had to move , due to a job transfer . Feel my pain. I only had my Beauitful kitchen with all the bells and whistle for a year.
Fast forward , new house built 6.years ago, happy husband , he got his lake. I agreed to buy thinking all I had do was put in all new Pro Applainces & I could make it work. I was wrong on every level . I hate ths kitchen . let me count the ways, 1) the island too high for me. 2, huge grill I never use. , 3) main pantry outside of cooking area ,4) most of the storage is out of my reach, 5) island too close to doors need to be close to past. 6) it's too dark, I rather painted cabinets with a mix of wood , dark pecan or coffee stained. 7 , the travertine floor cut off,wish it flow in great room, or vice versa. 8) I need to walk around he island to wipe down granite . 9) cabinets don't go to ceiling , dust trap.
9) no glass doors, 10) sink o small. 11 ) double vent a bit too industrial .rather one Beauitful wood vent . 12) not enough pots and dish drawers. I had all bottom drawer in my 1st renov, (can't go back,) and I hate the lighting, OMG! .
Now I was taught to always find one good thing, love the hutch on side wall. I need the best minds out there in Houzz Land. The shape of this kitchen makes it hard to place my new Applainces ,
Really don't want to o a complete gut out, but I know a new shape island is a must. Also I can add square footage by 6 ft by pushing back the wall with the oven or totally removing it , if I had an idea where the refrigerator and oven would go. as of now a have a side hallway behind it that leds to laundry room .kitchen is 15X18 breakfast area 12X18. And new appliance 48" gas cook top, 30 double oven, 24" Miele steam oven, (no micro wave) & 48 inch refrigerator.keeping the 2 dishwasher.
I did my 1st kitchen renovation. But ths time I'm stuck.
Please let me know if u think I should hand this over to the professionals. Last thing budget , I know the Applainces will eat into the budget putting 24,000. On the side for them, After looking at the pics,please tell me if it at all possible to save some of the cabinets . Maybe a real good wood workman can add to , paint rework them, really hoping with everything in me not to gut this kitchen. Please Help!!!! I love to cook , I cook when I'm happy or sad. Or in between.and when my freezer is full , I cook for friends and family.
