Finish of limestone

How did you finish the limestone to keep it from getting slippery when wet? Or do you not have to worry much about that in San Antone? :) I live in South Dakota so have to consider weather. Any suggestions on finish?
are the slabs laid on a wood framed foundation? Thanks so much for the help. No one around here seems to be to knowledgable on this kind of thing.

These steps are a tan lueder limestone and have a honed finish. This stone is very porous and isn't slippery. The steps are supported by the foundation. We are actually in Austin, not San Antonio!

Jon could you please answer the question on what the limestone is sitting on? Wood or concrete base? Also the outside / exterior of the material near the front door? Left side sandstone tile? Right side, concrete tile? We are just choosing material for the outside of our house and absolutely LOVE your design and workmanship. Pity you are not in Australia!
