Wood shows less dirt but stain grade cabinets cost more. If I were going to get them in white, I would make sure that the door panels were very simple, in order not to have to clean the molding.

They can both be beautiful........it's just your personal preference. I love my cherry cabinets but have seen several kitchens with white cabinets that are gorgeous. Browse thru the kitchens on Houzz to see what appeals to you the most because you'll be living with those cabinets for a long time:)

When buying a painted cabinet I feel you need to be careful about the finish quality. While a natural wood cabinet with it's natural grain hides a lot of imperfections, natural or not, a painted cabinet shows everything. If the paint finish is an area the manufacturer has choose to skimp to keep costs down, the finish will not be very durable. Also as wood expands and contracts the seams of the doors and face frames will develop hairline cracks over time. I've also found with some of the mass manufactured painted cabinets issues where when unpacking we find the paint on the door corners worn off during shipping. While painted cabinets look good, it's important to choose a quality manufacturer with a good quality finish process.

Try doing both a stained with painted for the rest or stained lowers and painted uppers
