I'm 65% through a semi-reno of my new apartment. The flooring has already been installed. The sample alone looks like a medium gray-brown color. Now that it's been installed there is a distinct purple cast to it (it's a bit stronger in the photo than it is in real life) that I wasn't expecting but I'm getting used to and doesn't bother me all that much.

The hard part is that my contractor just poured 2 samples of concrete that he plans to use as the countertop for my kitchen island (I've dreamed of a concrete countertop so I'm pretty excited about it). Honestly, neither sample looks good with the floor (see attached) but the sandy option is a little better. However, the gray color is much more what I had in mind and it has lovely little flecks of stones in it that the sandy sample does not. Is the color at all workable? Any suggestions on what color I should paint the island drawers maybe to make the gray countertop work better?

Any thoughts at all are appreciated.
