I love the style. It's rich and harmonious with nature.

I have a $100,000 budget for mine, so I've had to cut a lot of corners for a 750 sq ft getaway for my father. It's not log, but it has pine 2x8 curved siding that gives a nice impression.

I've had to do a lot of the work myself, and my friends now avoid me on the weekend for fear of being labor conscripts, but it is progressing well. I still need to finish the basement ceiling, add a garage door, and build retaining walls on either side of the back.

A blog is here. Click the "Older Posts" link at the bottom to go backward in time to see the progression of the project. I've enjoyed it very much, and soon I can just go out there to relax.

Great looking house!

Here's ours. I took this photo in the spring before the leaves and flowers. Whenever I want to post a photo I can't find a good one. We ended up at $300,000 when it was all finished. Our 13 acres required an engineered septic field. We also have a 36x48 barn.

We love the smaller - less than 1000 sq. ft. - cabins and would love to build another one on our 80 acres in Michigan's UP. We had a cabin there but it was lost in a major fire in 2012.

Where are all the other log home lovers? It's been almost 3 years since the last comment.
