would this bench look absolutely crazy at the foot of a bed?

    Purely based on its appearance, no it wouldn't. The question you need to ask is what is the back height of this bench and what is the height of your bed. My opinion is that if there is more than 2-3" difference in height, I would search for a similar one with a different scale. But a lot depends on the room altogether. I personally don't like to block a bed with something substantially higher. For a bed to feel inviting you have to be able to see it... and all the lovely bedding and pillows you've used on it.

    Sorry - to clarify I mean if the bench is 2-3" higher, not lower. Of course if it's lower it's fine!

    Love the bench! And I agree with Mona Ives, it shouldn't be much higher than the bed. However, you could put the bed on risers which would raise it about 8". You will need to buy a bed skirt a size larger than your bed to accomodate (sp?) the increased height. And bed risers are a wonderful way to add storage to your room - under bed boxes on wheels fit very well under a raised bed.
