What should I paint inside of my kitchen cabinets

I am getting my kitchen cabinets painted with an Espresso color. I was wondering what should I do with inside of the cabinets. Should I keep them same color or paint something like an off white?

Hello pdkat,

Nikki has a great idea, and one that you can alter very easily if you aren't pleased with the results. It might be nice to have a tonal pattern inside those cabinets. Changing the lighting would benefit the room greatly, even if you simply alter the fixture. Take a look at a few Houzz ideas for inspiration:

I would stain the insides of the glass front cabinets to match, but add glass shelves and lighting inside the cabinet

Do you have plans to update the ceiling lighting?

I'm staining my cabinets an espresso color too and chose to stain the inside to match. If you're concerned about the dark color in the glass-front cabinets a good inexpensive,interchangeable alternative could be using foam board wrapped in any color/pattern of paper you like or, you can put contact paper on the back of the cabinet.

On the non glass cabinets why not have some fun with vibrant colours ? And what about chalkboard paint on the reverse of the door so you can write messages 'keep out of the biscuit tin !' Etc ! In the glass cabinets I'd agree with painting it the same colour as the outside and replacing the shelves for glass with interior lighting !

I was thinking about getting rid of current celing lighting and put some recess LEDs

I agree with OnePlan, pdkat. I don't really care for chalk boards because of the dust they create but a vibrant red or orange juice yellow would really upgrade the look from an inexpensive redo to a creative solution. Since you have face frame cabinets you could also put LED strips inside the cabinets with glass doors.

deffinately add lighting inside the cabinates and maybe paint the cabinates a soft grey/blus shade to make it modern and add a big city picture of something to jazz it up a bit!
