Cabinets always look good above the stove. Not too much drama though, at least not in our case, but they're practical

I have cabinets over my stove with a built in microwave. Bad idea. When cooking for a family dinner the back burners are too hard to get to. I should have just put a large exhaust hood over the stove.

Yes! cabinets above stove should be located high up.

Posting photos of your kitchen would be helpful. In general corner locations for stoves is not your safest option. That aside. If you want to do something nice consider a hood liner with a mantle style hood that has a place for decorative tile or for displaying plates. Such as the one in this photo. You can find these in 30" wide models too.

It's ok to put a big stove in the corner, and it has some advantages, IF you have adequate clearance in front of the stove. If you are going to have an island, make sure you won't back into that sharp corner. Other than that, I like the idea, and have drawn it in several designs.

Corners of kitchens are usually not favorite places; this idea transforms a corner into one of the most important parts of the room. Yes, you lose some space by doing this.
