Since your colors are neutral, wall art can be any color and then you can incorporate that into your room.

I am out of light bulb. But during day light, it is the same color as the wall. They don't stand out.

Yes they came with the couch. As for the console its a hooker furniture.

I would highly reccomend that you replace the couch pillows. Just some ideas. These pillows are rather expensive, but go for texture and vibrant colors. Try Pier One or Etsy.com

Would a throw work too. And if it does, should go with a printed one or solid. My husband likes the basket weave rugs. Could they work

Right. The pillows they give you with couches are often awful (even with high-end couches!)

Buy your rug next. Pillows are easy to find and should come after the rug. If you buy a basket weave rug, and you don't want to add another pattern, you can always add solid pillows with texture.

I would buy a neutral tone in the rug, to give you future flexibility.

Natural fiber rugs.

I have this natural fiber rug in the kitchen, and he likes it. Thats why I'm wondering if it could work in the family room. Something close enough to this . I could be solid or printed.

You certainly could use something like that in the family room.

I think with how large and blocky your coffee table is, it might be nice to have a pattern in the rug to break things up.

Here is what I would do that may help you: take the kitchen rug and place it in the family room as a mock up. Take a picture and post.

Your furniture is very nice good job. Paint color is the canvas to works round. The color on walls now look fine with your furn.art and accessories will make the room. Take your time find what you like. Make sure you hang low 6-7" above top of furn. Z Galleries, West Elm. pier One, world Market, TJMax all carry nice things shop.

Crown moulding is not expensive. Go white and wide 8" let's see windows. You have a modern look going. So a chevron, Greek key design in panels would work. Then use that design in pillows also. I see yellow so could be a color for window panels. Length of panels depends on windows.

I like mirror above but others look too small. Think scale of wall big walls big art. Take your time. Look for more contemporary art. Z Galleries sells some great pieces.

Live your console table. Place a big sort piece over it. Hang low. Forget painting walls look fine.

What are floors? no rug over rug if wood, go a area rug with your accent color what ever you choose. Then use that color in pillows mix them up in size and shape.

The rug you show is fine. But use color and a print.

You need a 8x10 rug. Love your coffee table, you have some very nice things. Don't clutter walls with cheap art or too small, stay in a contemporary look. Ones you show above like metal items will not work with your look. Better to leave bare than just put up anything.

Gray is always easy to work with... however, any shade of yellow always tends to make a room seem bigger and bring a nice uplifting feel to the room. Perhaps add a table runner with some vivid colors to help add some color if you don't want to go with a rug, also easier to clean.
