If I were looking at your roof line straight on from the left, I would lean more toward a copy of Greek Revival. So, most of the house Greek. The right side of the house has a roof pitch more like Cape Cod.

I’d call your house a mid-century mongrel. It is cute, though, like most mongrels.

I think "plain" was part of the concept, but if you remove the bushes, you might try a pergola on the right above the large window. Here are some capes with pergolas. Even a smaller trim pergola like is often over garages could help. If these homes are common in your area, you might enlist a local architect that specializes in them to come up with an appropriate addition to help. Another idea is to paint the body of the house to contrast with the trim - even a light taupe like the last picture might add enough interest to keep it from being too plain.

I love the last pic!! I live in the south where every house has shutters so they didn't look bad to me until I read everyone's comments and the article. I thought they just needed a fresh coat of paint but now I know better lol. We were already planning to replace the siding.
