I like the direction your heading in with the gray paint on the back wall - that was my first thought, if you wanted to just roll with the pink tile! That said, porcelain paint is another option for the tile, and could help to neutralize the space, and then you could still go with the pretty gray paint options. The tricky part is the brass finish on the shower contrasting with the chrome on the sink...I'll kick that one back to a bathroom pro...

neutralize the pink for sure. not much you can do with all that pink. once the pink is gone put some color on the walls.

My first thought was gray paint too. With white and black accents (towels/trim etc). I would get rid of the gold shower trim but that is just my personal opinion and I'm not a designer.

Thanks for your input. I agree, the brass is tricky. I am not sure if reglazing the tile would necessitate removing (and then maybe replacing) the shower doors. if so, may that would be a good option, if my budget will allow. What you can't tell from the photo is that the sink fixture are chrome and brass mixed, though I still don't like them. I would be happy to be able to change them to a purely chrome fixture if the shower doors were gone.

I'd go with the gray, also. At least they didn't tile the bathtub, I saw a Sarah Richardson episode where even the tub was tiled!

I like your gray paint idea. Here's some wallpaper that would coordinate with it and would look great on the wall beside the tub. If you can paint the brass on the shower, I would. Get a new light for above the mirror.

The gray is nice and pretty, but it reminds of of the 80s for some reason. Also painting tiles is not that attractive and also no matter what you do, it'll peel off.

If you're going to tear it down in a few years, you might as well have some fun with it. Glam it up with more striking colors. I'd paint the cabinets black or dark espresso, and go really dark on the walls, like black. Or some sort of moisture resistant black/white/pink wall paper.





If you want to be more playful, leave the cabinets white, and paint each wall a bright color like hot orange, lavender, etc.

Great ideas everyone. I think I'll skip tile reglazing and spend the money on nicer fixtures (lights and faucets) that can be re-used when we do a full remodel. I was leaning toward the grey, but thought KShoa had some good ideas. I like the first picture with hot pink tile and industrial light fixtures. Maybe I can do a light-to medium grey on the walls, charcoal grey for the cabinets. and some funky accents like a colorful area rug.

Can you remove brass shower enclosure and use a beautiful curtain instead?? New hardware on the vanity could also be nice.

Change the gold shower enclosure (doesn't match anything), add a frame to your mirror to make it beautiful, and add some chrome towel racks. Your vanity doesn't look half bad. I think you can do a lot with this bathroom. The pink tile is very retro and vintage decorating is the new trend. Change the fixtures to polish chrome or brushed nickel and add fun green bath towels. Think about taking out the vanity and adding a piece of reglazed green/cream color piece of furniture for storage. Add drop in sink and retro mirror and you have a totally new look!

I like pink and taupe together with chrome hardware. I would switch the shower doors for a frameless or chrome semi frameless and paint your walls taupe.

What about.. embrace the pink, add chocolate or warm gray. Change hardware and remove doors from shower.... get a beautiful curtain there. Change out lights, too.

Love the light in this room! I like the idea of painting the cabinets and walls grey. Your pink tile is subtle. I would wait on the shower enclosure until a remodel. Maybe a rug to ground and soften the space (remnants custom cut and finished are a great buy). Green, maroon, chocolate, and navy are great compliments to pink and grey. I think I will for now, though I am not sure that I will ever have the same sense of nostalgia for my pink tile as others do on http://savethepinkbatrooms- believe it or not, my house was built in 1998. I didn't know pink was still popular then. But I found a wallpaper that I might use on the back wall, as Dar Eckert suggested. I think I'll move the bath bar lights and make them sconces over the mirror, then add a chandelier in the middle of the room (maybe painted a fun chartreuse?).

Chandelier is fun. Not as sure about wall paper as it doesn't have pink or chartreuse.
