I think you could do other pillows which would compliment the artwork and I would not “throw” the throw. Neatly folded over one arm would be sleeker.

The wall is large enough for 2 pieces of art work of the same size.

I agree with both of the previous posts. I think you need to add a few teal pillows to the couch which will just enhance the artwork. I also think the size of the artwork works, but you could do another one (I would stick with the same piece) for a bigger impact. However, if you do that, then I would keep all other wall décor to a minimum.

You could also do two pieces - one on each side of the one you have - that are the same height but narrower. Or even stack two squares on top of each other on either side. I would also pick up on the teal.

Would you really recommend them being the exact same piece of art though? I believe two of that size would be too big as the couch is not necessarily centered along the wall.

Yes, I think if you did the same piece but flip it and hang them close together, about 2" apart. It will just be a bigger impact and have a more modern feel. Like I said in my other post though, just keep all other wall decor to a bare minimum.

You probably will be putting up a hall tree for coats so I would not get a second painting. The one is a good size.

Two pictures look really great. Should the sofa be pushed back closer to the wall, since the tv seems very high.

A large piece of art as seen in the reference pic would be a dynamic size and make a strong impression in yr space

Kim, the room is narrow with the only place for the tv being on the mantle. In another thread on this room, we decided to float the couch due to the room dimensions. The couch really is a tad too large for the space...and I'm stuck with it for now.

Why is the sectional so close to the door? I think you need to make some adjustments to the arrangement before deciding about art.

I have another posting that focuses on the dimensions of the room. I'm not sure if you can access it by my user id, but it explains it. Basically, the couch would be in a walkway if it is moved over. There is a 3 foot clearance though! ;-)

Just a thought since you don't care for much color --- it looks like you have some good light coming in, though only from one side. Also, everything in the room (except for the kinetics in the art piece) is rectangular and sometimes boxy. I'd like the effect of a collage of circular (or at least not rectangular) mirrors on each side. Lots of interesting and not-expensive ideas to choose from on the market if you like the idea ... and it would bounce light around the room as well. I saw one the other day that was an asymmetrical arrangement on a metal "tree" of mirror circles from 6" to 12". Good luck anyway ... I like the room a lot, and your taste in art. It's just the big sofa that causes the problems.

Love the couch, love the drapes - wall color is great. Hang 2 pictures, same size. Adding just a bit of a punchy color wouldn't hurt... might look nice!

On a different note, perhaps put the floor vase in the corner?

The corner by the door? I am unable to do that because there is a 3 foot walkway behind the couch...and also, that is the entry from the garage.

You need some greenery to bring room to life. Broad leaf perhaps. The room looks good but lifeless. Like the textured pillows.

Art is a reflection of yourself. It's personal. Buy pieces that speak to your soul no matter the size. Then group them to fit the wall. Or if you find on spectacular piece that you absolutely must have but it's just too small; commission the artist to do same work in a larger size. The artist may have a matching piece to place side by side the compliment each other and that you love equally as well. I am an artist and have done this for customers.

I agree - a buffet table with a round mirror & scones or lamps, perhaps a chair or floor plant in the corner. Add an area rug in front of the sofa with a coffee table/ottoman. Looks great!

I like the two pieces of art much better than one. Re other wall if you need storage a tall unit. If not sofa table with mirror, etc. sounds great.

Great. I will begin looking for a sofa table with a mirror and lamps and one chair in that area. Question, is only about 6 feet of space between the fireplace and the sectional. I need minimal options for a coffee table / rug combo. Any suggestions on those?
