I would remove the 4" backsplash and do not do another. You don't have a good layout for a backsplash. You'll regret trying to make it work. Use enamel paint--it wipes clean. The color of your kitchen isn't the best. Pick a completely different color. Even solid white would be a better choice.

If you choose a BS to end at the counter where do you end it vertically?

Thanks for the help! Is it possible to add a backsplash on the other side of the kitchen and not do the side of the sink? Or would that look unfinished if you only bs one side?
