Did you have to consider ventilation?

I'm considering doing this in our master closet; my concern is that our closet is in the interior space of the house on the second floor. Do you have a window in your closet? do you add special ventilation for moisture issues?

Yes, there was a window, and it's an old house, so there should be enough fresh air to keep the room from smelling. What climate do you have?

We are in northern Virginia; mild/cold winters, hot humid summers. One contractor was concerned and suggested putting it in the hallway with the back using up some closet space. I have a nook like yours (where your current washer dryer is) which can hold about 100 pairs of shoes. I don't have that many and really do not need to display my shoes :). wasteful space.

As long as you condition the space like any other, I don't see why it would be a concern.
