The beams are structural glue lamb beams that are encased with rough sawn fir and painted with an oil base paint. So to answer more specifically the beams were made on site to fit the house.

Looking at this room, if I had to guess, I would say that it's a country club party room, or an apartment party room for tenants to reserve. How would you ever remove cobwebs from the ceiling. I don't even see any way to personalize this area as far as the walls go.
