The floors are reclaimed from Cochran Lumber. He is a follower of us which can be found on our profile. The client liked rustic and this seemed to fit the bill. I recommended wide and random widths. It was not scraped. (that was done on another project on my profile called AMERICAN TUDOR which is very similar but a bit more uneven and has rounder edges) After laid I took a chance and I asked them to lightly sand. Because of its roughness it took stain much more readily. and this is why I never spec the color on the can. Re color I wrote this for another inquirer:
"Heres a few pointers about how we select stains for this and all our floors:.
1. Find a stain of an image you like at a site or by a photo etc. Ask your flooring person to match it.
2. Ask for three samples of varying darkness or redness etc..
3. If its not dark enough ask for more. Professionals can mix both stain and sometimes dyes to get the right color.
4. once you get the right color, (this is important:) have them rematch the color on a movable board that you can hold to assure that the color matches the approved when the stain is put down on the entire floor. "
