We will have an eight foot long, four foot wide island in our new kitchen. We can figure out the cabinets on the kitchen side. But on the other side, the seating side, we would have four to five stools/chairs and a one foot overhang for the countertop. Given the depth of the cabinets (@2 ft) and the overhang (1ft) we could have a 1 foot deep book shelf, storage, etc on the seating side but would people sit and swing their feet against some books or pottery? Any ideas?
