Do you have an idea of what style and/or colors you're going with? It's hard to recommend specifics without knowing that, but wood blinds with drapery panels would work. This allows you to get some light into the room and still have privacy. Another option would be to have woven wood blinds with the drapery panels. The panels should be hung about 5" above the windows down to the floor. Hope this helps!

The window seems undersized for the room. I'd suggest a pinch pleat style drapery but extend the curtains 12" on both sides of the window to make the window appear larger. Then, mostly keep the curtains open the full width of the window. Floor to ceiling drapery will add height and make the windows appear larger as well.

Check out this photo of floor to ceiling drapery. I suspect this window is only the size of the curtain opening, but makes the window appear larger.

Although you are not asking it: I would change the walls colors, such as the Darzy's pictures.

I've had cheap curtains just to cover the windows since we bought the house a year ago!

I've hated the wall color and it was the first room we painted and I never liked the bedding we bought to go with the walls. I finally found new bedding that my husband and I both agreed on...it is the duvet that I had laid on the bed for some pictures. The colors are black, deep red and a few shades of grayish/brownish.

I have angled the head in the corner and started making a headboard today which is a slick feeling fabric (I don't remember the kind of fabric) which is black and has a slight pattern. I also bought paint to repaint the room...it matches the grey/brown I the bedding. I hope to have that all done by next weekend and will post pictures of the progress.

After that, I want to focus on getting new nightstands...those are about 20 years old! I've been looking at round nightstands to fit the area near the bed better. Then I can get larger lamps once I have the table size.

Then I will work on your GREAT window suggestions, along with the wall decor!
