Why not paint it?

We've been dead set against painting it. We have an eclectic style. This pic is from a showing and not our belongings. Ran across the gray stained paneling and I'm kind of in love with it. Painting would cover too much.

We're you thinking of doing the gray stain? If so, I would test it and check it against the flooring in all different lights to make sure you will like it.

As far as the stain, you could check with a cabinet maker to see what s/he would recommend, plus you want to find out about prep and specific kind of stain to use. May be better to use a wax or gel stain.

That looks like whitewashed pannelling to me. so be prepared for tons of prep work all has to be stripped and sanded down to bare wood either way
