What style would be simple? I was thinking a straight valance across the top.

Roman shades will give you more flexibilty of use, and you can sew your own. There are online instructions, if you have not done so before, via Google.

Yes! Window treatment will finish off the room. A valance would work - make sure you double the width of fabric vs. width of window for a nice fullness. You may want to consider cafe panels on the lower half of each window and no valance. This would give you more privacy.

We don't really need the privacy as the room is surrounded by bush. The blinds work when needed for night time but I do think I need fabric. I am a sewer so can create almost anything. Are you suggesting a valance just pushed onto a rod ?

I think a soft valance with some curving lines will soften the edges of the windows, desk, closet, etc. and lead your eye across the room. There are many fabrics that would work, but I would suggest one that incorporates some white to coordinate with your doors and window trim, and possibly some gold tones to correspond with the wood trim and furniture. I think the wooden mini-blinds are great. Then again, I like curtains. In our last house, we had only fabric blinds. I agree with sharaonjane1 about the box pleat, however, if you want something. Very sharp.

A blind or shutter would be good. A shutter would be good by itself.

I noticed the brackets for the previous window treatment are install on the frame. If you do a valance again, make sure you go up higher above the window to make the window look taller and give the room some height.

Glad you liked the renderings! Sometimes it is hard to visualize what a potential treatment will look like, and the renderings can really help to select a style as well as proportions for the treatment. Your room has great bones and the window treatment will really finish it off nicely!

Just purchased some beautiful fabric-blue with yellow "peacock -like " feathers.It is almost a border print. I may have to change my box pleat idea but want the yellow in the design to pick up the yellow in the walls. Would any other window pattern work for this fabric

Gorgeous fabric! Here is an idea that would display the fabric beautifully.

This uses two rod pockets. One at the top and the other about 4" from the bottom. When you hang the rods, bring the lower rod up to create the slight puff.

I think you need a light colored rug to even out the yellow since it is a bit much with the wood.

I only want a valance since I have desk/sewing table under the windows so long side panels are out. An earlier suggstion by SK designs was box pleats or scalloped topper as pictured above.. I like the topper suggested by Viola Creativity but wonder if the pattern will disappear in the gathering .if I use double the window width

I think a flat valance would work beautifully with that fabric so that the peacock pattern is really showcased and can be fully seen without distortion. The box pleats will add a little break without taking away from the vibrancy of the fabric. Good choice!

The pattern has a large repeat. I suggested shutters, but shutters are very expensive and I wouldn't put them in every room in my house even if I'm a dealer. Even as a dealer, we couldn't afford together to fly to your house and design this room. This seems to be a non-priority room for entertainment and guest.

You are the one who has to like it. And if next week, you don't like it, change it.

Take this approach.

Take rubber bands, the raw fabric and 5 small nails or thumb tacks and play with it.
Take the fabric, divide it in half.
Take 24" of the divided fabric and and wrap a rubber band around it.
Put a small nail in the center of the window.
Hang the rubber band on the nail.
Wrap and tuck fabric to make a creation you like.
On the corners, do the same.
Where the fabric ends, take a rubber band an tie off the ends tight.
Look at where the ends are and tie a rubber band around them.
Put a nail 6" above the rubber band..
Hang the bottom of the remaining fabric on the rubber band.

I like to design and hate paper work. If I need a break, I need a creative break. Take this personal space and recreate for 30 minutes. It will do wonders. Who says a window treatment has to be the same for 10 years, 1 year or change it daily.

Obviously, if you posted on this site, you have a creative side of you that wants to come out.

BTW. The fabric you chose is so open in design. I think that lends to your own ability to create your own environment. Be confident int what you want and create.

You are right about change. I have used the same fabric (floral print) in this room for 5 different window treatments over the years. Finally got sick of it and went with something new and a brighter colour for a cheerful feel when working in that room.

I would recommend going with a Cellular Shade in this space. Its great for multipurpose rooms. A neutral color would work best . I would also go with the top down bottom up option so you can control the light and privacy in the room.

What about a woven wood blind. It would give great texture to the room and still stay with clean lines. Timberblind has a great selection and reasonable prices.

. Everything from my kitchen is in my sewing room as we are doing a kitchen reno so this window treatment will have to wait . I will definetely post pics. I've been experimenting with it on the edge of my sewing table.

Finally back to this curtain project after some time in the sunny south and a kitchen renovation almost complete. I've designed on rods 3 different looks and am open as to which is best.- box pleats, box pleat with tail on ends or gathered onto rod. I tried the superimposed look above but couldn't get it to work. This project needs to get finished.
