The tile will either be this same tile, which is in my bathroom or a tile similar with a little gray in it. It will have brown grout as well

Love your Color Scheme! Oh you could go so many ways with this.

Go (Nimbus) grey on the walls, or a pattern incorporating both shades of gray.
Use an accent wall (Chelsea Gray) the darker for the doors and cabinets for dome contrast

The bench coat rack could be (Thunderbird, or Gold leaf). Oh it would be killer in either color! Then add some great pillows like you have in your inspiration picture for the coatrack, to soften the hard lines.

Last of all add a few items with your inspiration color on the walls.

Barbara - the look of my house is outdated! Is that a look...lol?!? It's an 80's house that hasn't had anything upgraded since it was built, so I'm slowly going room to room.

I'm not sure what look or style I have...definitely not modern or primitive look. The house has the same wood trim and wood closets, that I'm going to leave like that for now.

I wanted to paint the coat bench a yellow color, but I was afraid everyone would say that would be to big to paint yellow. So, I'm glad to hear someone else say they like the color!

If it were me I would beadboard the walls, and paint white. Add crown moulding. Paint all trim white along with cabinets and doors. I would paint the ceiling a diluted Thunderbird blue. Paint your coat bench the yellow and add the pillow seat in the blue and yellow print. Change out the hardware to chrome or brushed nickel. I would not use the gray in the room. Keep it sunny and cheery;)

Side note: I hung a towel bar under my cabinets over the washer to hide the hoses coming out of the wall. You could use some pretty blue and yellow towels;)

Yes, paint the cabinets the dark gray along with the doors. I could not tell by the pictures how the layout of the room flows to the other areas of the house, but you could either do one wall darker...or a combination of the 2 greys into a fun geometric/chevron pattern.

Margo - you have great ideas and I'm sure it would be beautiful! I thought about painting the trim white, then I realized once I started with the trim I would have to do the entire house! I'm not up for that task...lol! I just noticed in the picture that the cabinet over the washer and dryer isn't attached to other wood trim, so I can paint the cabinet if that would look good.

I planned on putting something over the washer/dryer to cover the gap and hoses. I also planned on changing the hardware on the cabinets and try to paint the gold handles in the closet door. Should I also change the hardware on the bench?

The ceiling will have to stay like it is for now and if I put crown molding, it would look odd since the rest of the house doesn't have that.

I just want to have it all done now, but my husband and budget say I have to be patient!

Spectrum - I didn't realize the cabinets stood alone until I looked at the pictures, so I would love to paint

OH Brandi, I have lived in my current house 8 years now and I am just getting around to my laundry room. When I first moved in, I did paint my cabinets above the washer and dryer white. They were just like yours, even the handles;) I did switch them to brushed nickel. So, now I am just having some beadboard installed, painting the ceiling and adding the crown. I also do not have crown in the other rooms, but I do not think it matters. You do not have to have every room the same as long as it flows.
Take your time and just have fun with it, it looks like a nice space to work with.:)

Thanks Margo...we have lived here a year and have done some work, but until the owner agreed to sell us the house, we didn't want to much money into it. Now we have closed on it and it is ours, I've had a year to think of everything I wanted to do! Although the down payment cut into my remodel budget, I just feel I have so much to do. It doesn't help my son graduates in 5 months and I want to have his open house at our house!

I need to learn to be patient and work on one room at a time. This weekend it is to finish the master bedroom and then next week I want to at least get the walls painted in the laundry room.

Thankfully the Indiana snow storms has given me a few extra days at home to work on projects! I know my husband would like me to stay off Houzz and Pintrest!

So far I have painted the walls the color Nimbus in the color scheme I posted. I'm afraid to paint the cabinets though...I spray painted the hardware on the doors though.

What about painting the doors the darker gray color? I have 2 doors in this room...one to the garage and the other to the backyard.

Any thoughts on painting the doors (not the closet doors).

Are they those white doors? Is your paint pretty heavy duty to hold up to all the contact a door gets?
I hung a wreath over the hook ups in the laundry room...gone!

The doors are a dingy white and I noticed the garage door has some chipping of the paint. I have regular indoor paint in the dark grey, but just had the thought as I was painting the walls that the doors could use a fresh look too. I want to wait until the tile is laid next week to see what to do. I am painting the coat bench a yellow color, just needing to take a break from painting for now. Unless I get snowed in this week, the. I can get so e more work done!

My problem is I'm trying to do to much work all at the same time instead of taking it slow and not feeling overwhelmed!
