I would really like it to have a more modern but with a little bit of traditional feel. The backsplash has some a grape and wine theme that I plan on removing when we save a little more. Also, I want to make the kitchen feel as big as possible. Those pics are from the previous owner as we are still in escrow.

Okay so I would say white. Here's why. Black is great it is, easy to keep clean and matches everything. But when you don't have to Much money I can promise you that left over white will go further. Not only that but black makes things dark, and small. Meaning you will need lots more light both day and night which could mean adding more fixtures costing more money and a higher bill for your electricity. It's open it is but black makes things feel and look small and closed off. If you want any suggestions on anything else feel free to ask or send some pictures my way. :)

And for the hard wear I'd say go with stainless steal to math the fridge and appliances adds a moderns touch and also is easy to clean and won't wear down.

Just read that black is the new color for kitchen. But in saying that, we just finished a remodel and we put in white cabinets..so fresh looking…don't think you could go wrong with either.

Your kitchen looks bright and open. I'd do dark...a great contrast for your granite.

Yeah I agree black is a good color and it's the new hip thing but I still say white. Gonna get rid of the wine look? Still want wine? Black wine racks on the top of a white cabinet will look amazing and with those black chairs. But you really can't go wrong here it's just a matter of preference

Thanks everyone I appreciate the input. I really like the idea of white but hate having to always keep it so clean. Also, I'm afraid the white appliances with the white cabinets will be white overkill. Ugh I just need to pick one and not have any regrets.

Thought you wanted all SS appliances within the next year? I vote for white cabinets with the SS. Keep your eye on the goal.

I have had white cabinets for 7 years and with good hardware I haven't had any trouble with cleaning or chipping ( except sometimes corners which is easy to tough up). I also hove kids...

White would add pop to whatever you do for the backsplash and with the dark plank style tile, would keep the room light. I have white melamine cabinets, 1 kid, 2 dogs, a hubby and I am a messy cook. Quick wipe usually on the lowers is an easy clean up. Maybe consider a pickling look to keep it light but maintain wood grain for some natural material ambiance?
