Along with color, don't forget style or detailing, that is often more important than color.

White seems to be very popular for classic. We are building a contemporary/transitional decor home and have gone with espresso cabinets, silver travertine tile and alpine white granite for counters and backsplashes. In checking aroaund, we have found that the darker cabinets are becoming more popular as long as there is a lot of natural light in the kitchen...more dramatic. Traditional still white and wood grain.
