I would agree with the suggestion above and a simple cream coloured subway tile for a backsplash

Here are four options for you.

1) Colonial Gold (we used in out renovation).
2) Typhoon Bordeaux (based on dclostboy's recommendation).
3) Juperana Persa (expensive but really makes a statement).
4) Venetian Gold (used a lot but would look good with your cabinets).

I like like the first one (Colonial Gold?) and the second one, bottom left. That's the pricey one right? :o/
May I ask what software you used to create the photos? It would help a lot with visualizing other renovations we're planning to do.

HI -- Today's preference is Quartz . Best choice for today's kitchens . I find granite too cluttered looking and you have to seal it . Quartz is no fuss and clean looking .

@anina99 The 1st one is the Colonial Gold. It has rust, gold, taupe, specks of garnet, dark brown, white, cream. It sounds busy but we really love it. Yes the bottom left is the Juperana Persa. For comparison the Colonial Gold was $55 sq. ft. The Juperana was $95.

Funny story was we went to the granite yard to do our final selection and wanted to be absolutely sure of our choice so we walked around and saw the Juperana Persa. Fell in love with it and decided that's what we wanted. Few days later our contractor said "You realize that the granite you chose is about twice the cost of what I put in my bid"? My response was, "That's not our granite." Back to the yard where we found the Colonial Gold.

I use Powerpoint. I copy and paste your photo into a document and then draw a polygon with the polygon tool to outline the area I want to fill. I then put in the fill I want, using pictures of granite in this instance. I save the file as a JPEG instead of as a presentation, then attach it to the post.

I like the contrast of light cabinets and dark countertop (or dark cabinets and light countertop). It really boils down to whether you like contrast or matchy-matchy in your decor.

I just put in Cambria quartz in my kitchen and absolutely love it! It's definitely the best option I think. There are many colors to choose from. I like the idea of something dark and dramatic in your kitchen, because everything else is same family of tones.
