I love the first photo-- no dark rug, with the blue chair that ties in beautifully with the artwork and pillows on the sofa. A lighter rug might work. You do need something vertical in the corner. I think the plant could work if it's real--fake plants tend to cheapen the overall look of a room, in my opinion. Or a more substantial torchiere, as others suggested. But I really liked your style, so don't return art/furniture/plants if you like them, just because someone else didn't like them. You're the one living with it all.

I have a similar look for my LR. We have a round Ushak rug with medium muted blue, tan, cream and chocolate designs. It would look perfect with your furniture. We bought our rug when we lived in Turkey, but I've noticed that the ushak style has become popular in machine made rugs. Maybe you can find one on Etsy or Ebay.

How about putting the larger end table with a table lamp where the fake tree is....eliminate the tree, the rug, and the mirror. Put your blue chair straight (where it is) with the smaller end table to the right of the chair. Good luck!

I love the pop of yellow! The room has a fresh beach cottagey look now. If you do a rug, I'd go small and light colors. BTW, are those slip covers on the sofas? They look good. Mind sharing where you bought them?

Is it possible to put the couch under that fab new art so it is not just floating on the wall? Then move the love seat under the mirror. LOVE those windows and would love them open in this room.

New picture, new real plant, ottoman under picture. What do you think so far?

I think the ottoman looks lost under that picture. I like the sofas where they are but I would take the end table ( that is beside the sofa on the wall ) move it over to the other side of the sofa. Then put the plant back in the corner and I would think about getting a narrow console to put under the painting.

It comes in a5' or a 6' length, very shallow, would really look wonderful on that wall :)

Needs to be longer and darker, won't look like too many tables, helps to ground the painting and complete the whole room :)
You could put the side table opposite the other side table, near side of sofa, and put floor lamp in either corner, or if console is wide enough, buffet lamps on either end? But not if it blocks artwork. I loved the artwork Jeremy Strack posted for you, very pretty and subtle. I think maybe the artwork you've put in now is a bit too long for the space.

Like the console & colored lamp ideas. Everything in the room is square or rectangular. How about replacing the coffee table with a large round ottoman & tray, maybe in a print that picks up some of the yellows & blues. Then you may not need or want a rug.

I think a smaller rug will look better. Think of lighter tan tones so the appearance is not so dark. You might be able to find a rug with a tan middle and light blue border to match your pillows.

Console table is not wide enough. Art should be no longer than 75% of the table's width. A credenza would do more for the space than an open table. The coffee is already taking care of the legginess, so you need a grounding piece there. Why is this Dilemma on B&A?

Your initial picture had the sofa underneath where the art is so why not do that again?

I like Myrns idea of an ottoman, and the "legged" console. Think a credenza might be too heavy.

It's a dark wood tone with a black rub over it, or a black with most of it rubbed off. I think it's a great piece to work with a lot of styles and other wood stains or painted pieces. :)

I really liked there first picture, minus the fake plant. Add the pops of yellow with your cushions and maybe paint your lamp the same tone. That blue chair is very nice and fits the room. The sofa looks great under the artwork. Keep it functional and uncluttered! :)
