We have on e large open space that is clearly supposed to be two separate rooms. Can't seem to figure out a placement if furniture where we can maximize the space for better use and flow. Any grand ideas!? We do have a toddler so open space and room for toys is a must! Thanks so much for any ideas!!

    Well. here is one idea for changing the TV area a little - just to get the idea ball rolling. I know there are not that many options, but it might spark someone's light bulb moment. Plus, you might have tried this already - no problem.

    What if you moved your sofa into the fireplace room and placed it in front of the window. I know it will come up farther onto the window than the chair does. Then, put the chair 1/2 angled where the TV is now. It will spill over that small wall but you can use the spill-over part for, maybe, the tent. Place the TV unit where the sofa was. Tweeking is involved with filling in critical voids. Of course there would have to be the correct hookup for the TV in the opposite position.

    This would leave the big windows clear, as they are now, and bring all of the natural light that is being enjoyed, I'm sure.

      With a bit of investment you could swivel mount TV in the opening by the breakfast/dining nook. "L" the 1.5 chair and sofa (sofa under the large window.) in the FP area flank the window with the two chairs and get a bench/sofa to put opposite them, perpendicular to the FP.

      - - Keep the openness of your space - that is how it was designed.

      The chair 1/2 is like a 1/2 wall at the entrance and is not very welcoming. Move it under the window on the entrance wall and place the 2 arm chairs opposite it.
      This would also balance out the 2 areas. A bench opposite the FP would come in handy when bundling up the little ones. [I live in MN - what can I say?]

      You could place the princess tent where the basket is now or, develop the spaces under the windows on either side of the fireplace for toy storage - open or closed.hese could be nothing more than white bookcases as close to the height of the window sill as possible, and as wide as the space between the fireplace and the edge of the wall. These are available at big box stores, are reasonably priced and very easy to assemble and install.

      It is on a "stand" so no, I don't care for that setup or the awkward area where it hangs over the wall and window.

      What is the wall opposite the large windows - can you find room there for a low credenza to set the TV on or hang it above?

      Put your furniture at an angle, especially your couches! It will make it look much homier and it won't look a bit cluttered.

      The one that would normally be the dining room is the best TV space and the dining nook in the back would make a great playroom. We're waiting to see the wall opposite the big set of windows as a potential TV spot.

      The wall opposite of the late window is a doorway to the hallway and the dining nook. The dining nook is not a good option for a play area because of the size and visibility..plus the only play for our table.

      I agree the chair and a half would be good backing to the window with the two chairs across from it. It is forming an unwelcome barrier as is. If that doesn't work and it needs to stay as is, a skinny sofa table behind it would help a lot.

      Put couch at window where tent is. Move all kid stuff to the other half of room. Then take the chair on the left of FP to the other room. Where you removed the chair , put the trunk with lamp there.

      Looking at the first picture I think that you should spread out the furniture and avoid placing anything against the walls ,keep in the center ,here is one example
