I like the clean look so don't add too much. Consider a few cookbooks with whimsical bookends. A nice ceramin container near stove to house some of your cooking utensils. You have enough room for some pics as well.

The chandelier has a down soft flood light.

It has a dimmer as well but I have it on full light because it's dark outside now and hard to take pics.

Any paint color with gray in it changes colors throughout the day while the sun moves over the house. It is called mezzerAmine. It can be a good thing. Just pick one object for each color change to fit the color throughout the day. The eye will be drawn to that object and color.

I clicked on the full image and notice the light casts a shadow from the lemon plate. Although that chandelier is beautiful...it's not the proper lighting for working, eating or socializing. Painting the ceiling to deaden the brightness is a major re-do and would not make a difference. Choosing another form of (kitchen) task lighting, around a main island, is well worth the effort. (you will not work in shadows)

What sort of light would you suggest?

The kitchen is lovely! If it was mine, I would add some canisters with either flour, sugar, etc. for cooking or maybe some sweet treats. Then a couple picture frames of family, bowl of fruit, maybe some cookbooks? Coffee station!!!

We have a butlers pantry off the kitchen for wine and pantry.

Haley, I just pulled up Bungalow Beige by Sherwin Williams. Is this it? It so, all I can say is wow, because my monitor must be on a lavender bender. Your photo is showing me green. Yikes!

It is green as it gets dusk. The color does not look as beige as the swatch you show. I guess I would describe it as a khaki.

Whenever people come see our home, the comment on the green in the paint.

Haley, nice start on your kitchen; what a beautiful space! I would prioritize window coverings; envision woven wood roman shades on all our windows (kitchen and eating nook) which will work beautifully with the natural stone/granite and warm cabinetry. You can then add panels/flat roman valence when you find fabric you love. I would accessorize your island with two large boxwood topiaries on a large tray (maybe choc leather or interesting wood tray) (see RH for some nice overscaled preserved boxwood topiaries). Yes, modern brushed nickel will look great against dark cabinetry and w/stainless appliances. I wonder if your dining table would feel better in space if perpendicular vs parallel to your patio door? Rug here and maybe even think about possibility of your island light over the table (retro fit the existing recessed light to accept hanging fixture).

Yes we have under cabinet lighting. I love your idea of the boxwood topiary!! I have that in my cart on my one kings lane app and didn't know how to place it correctly.

Perfect; I'd do one larger and one smaller. You can't go wrong with green, a natural color . Great resource on kings lane! Look for a tray or fun smaller canvas print to place on easel in your counter corner.

Haley, before you buy on OneKings....check out RH, much less expensive from the ones I was able to find on one kings and also RH are bulkier/lower in great containers.

Love the suggestions to get hardware and a window covering. Just wondering.....do you have kids? If so, you could get maybe three of the tall clear glass canisters with lids and put snacks in it for the kids and then there is some color with the clear glass and very practical for use, too.

I think you need to infuse some self-love into your space. I love glass and crystal, so my kitchen has glass and crystal containers all over with fruit and other items in them. I can fill them with citrus for spring or mini pumpkins and pinecones in the fall and winter. If you love desert, get some beautiful cake plates in a colored glass. Display wooden spoons in a crystal vase. What I am trying to say is that your kitchen doesn't tell me anything about you or what you love except that you are an amazing housekeeper. And if you live in Des Moines, Iowa I could use one.

Just looking at this last pic again.....while I love that counter display and the pop of color and how it matches the light above, I wonder if it is too small to put right under the light and maybe is throwing off the look of the light a bit, too.

It is a too small of centerpiece for sure. I never knew how hard it was to find large bowls, stands etc. the scale of the island is so massive it throws off the stuff I have. I have been trying to find a large bowl to fill with lemons. I have lemon trees so I always have tons of lemons. Our island is over 7 ft.

I do have kids and love the canister idea. The problem I run into is, either the canisters are too small looking or the large ones are too tall to fit under the top cabinet.

Keep looking for something large enough so everyone sitting at the table can easily reach it......then it will be just the right size. LOVE knowing those are your own lemons and will be replenished all the time!!!

I saw the canister idea while touring model homes and wished the kids were still young and at home to do that. No reason to hide the snacks away when they can be on a counter.

Maybe add a chalk board or bulletin board over by the desk on that side wall to tie in with the desk area of the room......command center, so to speak and wall decor, too.

I will continue to search for the perfect glass canisters! I have a 3 and 5 year old daughters who would love that.

That little display over by the ovens? LOVE what you are doing there, but each one is angled in the corner. Maybe try straightening the taller colorful one so it is flat/straight with the wall and moved over just a titch. Seems like I always try to hide outlets, but I get the feeling you may USE that one, so maybe do not cover it.

AND it makes the kitchen belong to them....let them choose their snacks.

It is a semi display. My attempt at it. Lol they are my grandmas vintage cookbooks and a fun pig I found.

VERY special to have a part of Grandma in the kitchen and I LOVE vintage cookbooks. Just change the angle on one of them and see how it looks then. Try to center your choice with the outlet and the wall.

haley, what I love about your place is that everything is so well done! I particularly like the rounded edges of your walls...nice touch! I think over time you will find adding personal touches of you & your family [objects] here 'n there, and that will bring out the home owner personalities. Enjoy the clean sweep for now... spot the "extra" gotta have it as you live your life (probably ideas from your girls ;-)

Beautiful kitchen!! Love the chandelier over the island much better than the old pendant lights. Sorry if this was mentioned before, but I would add a print fabric faux blind valance on the window over the sink. Relax and enjoy adding the finishing touches - this is the fun part!!

I added some roman shades! Went with white because I like the clean crisp look.

Next step is cabinet hardware.

I would not change a thing. It looks good the way it is.

I believe that if you opt for simple pulls and knobs in matte brass it would pull all of your different components together, i.e. counter top, cabinets, and chairs.

I love the suggestion for adding a pop of color by reupholstering your chairs!

Finally getting around to putting hardware on my cabinets. Curious if you think these will work well with my cabinets and fixtures in there.
