We live in an 1895 Queen Anne Victorian in San Jose, CA, and we love it! Our woodwork has never been painted, and we have tons of stained glass and original fireplaces, picture rails, etc. I've gone pretty wild with color inside the house - but people love it when they come over. For example, I've always wanted a coral dining room - I thought it was just such a decadent idea - so I did it! Coral Gables by Benjamin Moore. I painted above the chair rail jade green (Bunker Hill Green by Benjamin Moore), and the ceiling is metallic Ballroom Gold (by Ralph Lauren). It looks fabulous with my wood trim. Anyway, hello Victorian friends! ;-)

Where is the house? It has standing seam metal roof? It will be stucco? Sand finish is what I would do. Aluminum windows is what we use here in Florida where it's hot. The style of window will be important to determine the look for the house. I don't think I would do a divided light window on this house. I would do sliding windows, white. I think since you have a metal roof, I would do a simple aluminum railing, white. Leave the color for just your stucco.

I believe the white cabinets go very well in homes, but love the true look of wood. I think it is where the home is, and what type of home. Are you remodeling or new? Remodeling you should go with the rest of the home décor look. Will the white or wood over power the rest of the areas around kitchen. Is it an open look or more closed in kitchen?
