The bottoms of all the boxes are lined with 19 guage, 1/4" coated wire mesh to prevent moles and ghophers from eating the entire crop. Otherwise, yes, the entire box is filled with organic soil.

I noticed that the bottom boards are blackened. Did you use a special coating or burn the surface? I've been told that will also help keep the bad bugs from doing any damage. Also, you mentioned you put coated wire mesh on the bottom. What kind of coating? zinc, plastic, etc? Thank you and it turned out beautiful!

Actually the boards on the bottom are darker because they're older/aged in the lumber yard. Redwood is naturally resistant to bugs.

The wire mesh we used is plastic coated to resist rust.

Me and My Mother put in some green beans, 3 or 4 weeks ago and they have not come up we put them out when they said but for some odd reason we have not seen them!!!! We already have Potatoes planted and Corn but the green beans haven't shown up yet!!!! Any ideas that we can have?? I mean i think it was earth day when the i saw to plant Have any of Ya'll had this or have any ideas??
