Also I have hideous laminate countertop and priced out solid surface. Not sure where to begin to make the most sense out of my dollar!

Victor, how durable are the painted countertops?

Since I've only had it for about a month, I cannot give any personal experience, but I did check all their reviews and read comments on Facebook and as with any countertop, don't cut on them without a cutting board or scrub them vigorously with abrasive compounds/cleaners. The company is great to work with. I needed a little more topcoat~I called them, a live person answered the phone and the person who answered the phone handled my problem. When I told her I had plenty of the primer and minerals but ran out of topcoat she said "that happens, we'll send out another can". This was all without additional cost.

In all sincerity, no it isn't the greatest kitchen in the world, but I have CERTAINLY seen worse. It is a small enough kitchen that if a new homeowner wanted it, it isnt' a reach. ust as it isn't so horrible that you can't function in there. Here's what I would do.


1. First and foremost clean off every little thing and canister off of that countertop. It may just be the photo, but it looks littered with things that take away a sense of space.

2. It is a lacking any zest or joy...find a colorful area rug by the sink, that throw a COLORFUL vase of flowers on that island. (I am not anti-neutral, however, on this case you need a few swift gestures and bold color gets you there)

oh yes, and remove all picture frames! Rule number ONE--it's nice for a house to look like HOME when selling, but not like YOUR home. People want to be able to envision themselves there. For example, a kitchen can have a couple of vases, cookbooks, a colorful near fruit basket always looks great too. But nothing personal---family photos make people feel like they are snooping in on someone else's place. Picture perfect space with personal elements makes them covet it.

Chances are whomever buys will want to change the color of cabinets, countertops, i.e., they will want dark and you have light, etc. I agree with Jessy Krol Interiors. Limited items on counters. It has some good seating around the island which is nice. Maybe get some pricing to update it and then throw that amount in your seller agreement. That way new owners can get what they want.
