Thank you for the pics. It is really a beautiful area, but you are right it needs tweeking. First the rug is totally under the sofa, either find another rug that is quite a bit larger and maybe with a little accent colors in it. If not, pull the rug into the room with just the front legs of the sofa on it. The rug should come near the fireplace. It looks as if it is a walk thru area in front of the 2 chairs?? Also, is the piece of wall behind the sofa a different color? Help me with these questions please.

There is very little wall space for art so I would hang a piece of art over the sofa. What are the colors in your chairs?

Family black and white pictures. Do a mural of different sizes and shapes. Don't put a mirror you already have one by the fireplace

Oh thank you! I will pull the rug into the room so it comes near the fireplace. Yes, it is a walk thru to the next room. It is an open floor plan. The wall behind the sofa is a silver grasscloth. I am going to put thin white molding up the sides of it to frame it out.

The rug out really helps a lot. As for the silver grass cloth..rather than frame it can you continue both ways on that wall to both corners. I think that would be a much better look. Also try angling the 2 chairs into the space a little. They look awkward flat against the wall. Choose large colorful art for above the sofa, also move the pillows to the backs of each chair and add different pillows on the sofa..using grays, yellows and maybe black..but brighter in color. I would add small tables on the sides of the sofa..it looks so lonely. Also the coffee table seems undersized to me. Look at one like this..it has more interest.
