What color are the walls above/below the soffits? I think it depends on what those are.. If the walls were white, I would say to try a cream or almond color to provide a little contrast while tying in with the backsplash's almond glass. Another idea could be to paint the soffits maybe a light gray, to tie in with the light gray backsplash and stainless steel hardware.

I think if you wanted to really make a statement, you could try to pull in lighter version of the avocado or maybe even a coffee colored brown.
